LPC Fall Meeting to Explore the Changing
Role of the Transportation Claims Professional
Enabling claims professionals to make loss prevention a more integral part of their companies competitive offerings is the focus of the Loss Prevention Conferences Fall Meeting, The Proactive Claims Professional - Preventions New Breed. The meeting will take place October 17-20 at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel Atlanta Airport.
During the 2004 LPC Fall Meeting, industry experts will present the latest information on applying technology to claims processing and utilizing employee accountability programs to reduce claims costs. Compliance with in-bond customs procedures and Homeland Security regulations, the Carmack Amendment and air cargo liability will also be explored in great detail.
To complement the expanding role of claims professionals, the Fall Meeting has been lengthened to two-and-a-half days. This provides time for more workshops, educational sessions and networking with North Americas leading claims and loss prevention experts.
The new breed of claims professionals needs to keep abreast of industry developments that influence their job responsibilities outside of the traditional realm of claims work, LPC President Dwan Hughes, director of customer services, security and loss prevention, AAA Cooper Transportation, said.
Education on the impact of globalization, intermodal regulations, new technology, better management practices, security and safety in the transportation industry will enhance the professional development of claims, security, prevention and freight loss and damage professionals; third party logistics providers; transportation attorneys; insurance adjustors; and industry-related service and product suppliers.
LPC is a great experience to learn and grow as a loss prevention/claims specialist, Ellen Barker, claims watch manager, Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc., said.
