ALAN Friends:
This week American Logistics Aid Network is participating in the “Shaken Fury” National Level Exercise which simulates a 7.7 magnitude earthquake along the Cottonwood Grove Fault, the southwest segment of the New Madrid Seismic Zone, near Memphis, Tennessee. The scenario affects the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee.
During the next couple of days we may call on you in the way we would if this were a real scenario. Primarily this means asking questions about contacts, resources, and capabilities. We appreciate your assistance with these questions. While this is an exercise event, we want to test to the extent possible the ability of the supply chain community to respond to the scenario.
As we have in previous disasters, we will host a daily coordination call at 11 AM Eastern to exercise communications capabilities. This call, hosted with our partners at LIFT Nonprofit Logistics and MIT’s Humanitarian Supply Chain Lab, exists to be an information source to aid in the restoration of private sector supply chains. During the calls we will examine common concerns including:
- Disrupted / destroyed public and private infrastructure and services,
- Surviving/available logistics services to support flow of commerce,
- Other impediments affecting your business’ ability to conduct operations.
Members of FEMA’s Logistics Management Directorate and National Business Emergency Operations Center will also be on the call to discuss their actions, answer questions, and address any concerns related to the exercise.

Thank you for your ongoing support of ALAN!
