The Shipper's Voice - Thanks to all Those who Attended!
Gail Rutkowski, NASSTRAC Executive Director | Tuesday, July 16, 2019
Thanks to those who this year’s Shipper’s Voice Meeting. In addition to an excellent education line up (presentations available to members), attendees were able to attend meetings with various congressional representatives and explain how important issues such as Highway Infrastructure, the importance of Twin 33’ productivity improvements and a national motor carrier selection standard is to the shipper community.
Congress seldom hears from shippers on these issues and generally takes a “freight doesn’t vote” approach. NASSTRAC is hoping to change that perception. The good news is while up on the Hill the next day, while members of TIA were on the Hill, they told us that a number of congressional aides mentioned that NASSTRAC was here talking about the issues. We’re starting to get noticed and we need to keep up the good work this year’s attendees started.
“The second day of the event we had the chance to attend meetings on the Hill with key senate and congressional leaders to discuss meaningful legislative issues that would have an impact on the transportation industry. I like what I am seeing, we have renewed our NASSTRAC membership and I am involving more of my key staff.” John Janson, SanMar
