To all NASSTRAC Members:
This year we asked the NASSTRAC Board of Directors to let Santa know what their hopes and dreams were for the holiday season and for 2018. Here are their responses:
Dear Santa,
In the hope that you will find that we have all been good this year, we would like to ask your help to improve our industry in 2018. In that spirit we would like to ask:
If you could, we would very much like to see peace in Washington, (both the Senate and the House, please), if that can be accomplished, then there is hope for infrastructure funding. Our wish is for a new infrastructure bill for 2018 to get us back to being a global leader in the transportation arena.
We also hope for a regulatory vacation in 2018 and assurance that any new proposed regulations are (absolutely) necessary, crystal clear, designed to make compliance easier, designed to improve productivity and do not impose significant costs on carriers and shippers.
Oh, and if you can help us to finally get through the EOBR mandate, and maybe, just maybe, deliver legislation that allows twin 33-foot trailers? Our carriers would find that very helpful!
And one final legislative wish: All I want for Christmas is for Congress to pass and President Trump to sign the tax reform/relief bill so we can kick the economy into high gear!
We also have some wishes for our industry and colleagues:
If we could have only one wish this year it would be for complete end-to-end, real-time, supply chain visibility, and an upgrade to my TMS.
I do not ask for much, but please explain to everyone that there is no such thing as a “fast boat” for sea freight cargo, regardless of what a Wall Street Journal article may state.
All I want for the holidays this year is for the Shippers and Carriers to get along. Let’s all help each other out. That’s not asking too much, is it?
All I want for Christmas is one of those autonomous trucks!
My Christmas wish is for my friends in sales and procurement to realize there is no such thing as free freight, no matter what the Amazon Prime ads say!
And finally, Santa we have some basic wishes for everyone:
I have a tall order but with help, I believe you can handle anything: U.S. peace. God bless the USA!
Please provide our members with the gifts of gratitude and appreciation for the work that the NASSTRAC team does to support our association and us. And let that gratitude and appreciation flow back to all NASSTRAC members
Last thing Santa, we would also ask you to make sure all NASSTRAC members have a banner year in 2018, and please provide enlightenment and encouragement to those shippers who have not yet joined NASSTRAC.
Happy Holidays to all!
